Michigan Avenue
Looking north from Ontario Street you can begin to appreciate (in part) why this area is known as The Magnificent Mile. The architecture is as diverse as are the people. Soaring spires and retail showrooms fill the real estate from the Chicago River north to the Lake Shore Drive curve.
The tree-lined boulevard accords daily shoppers and travelers an ambience replete with chic boutiques and quaint eateries. The entrepreneurs and followers of fashion are mixed with the professional and office dwellers during a sunny afternoon stroll. The taxicabs can be seen plying their trade in rapid fashion.
Lastly, looking north down the length of Michigan Avenue you'll spot the most singular landmark in the city - the Water Tower. This structure is the only remaining relic from the Great Chicago Fire of the nineteenth century. This gothic edifice holds a special place in the hearts of many a Chicagoan.
