December on Michigan Avenue

The holidays are with us again. The minions are busily shopping for the perfect gifts for friends and family along the Magnificent Mile. Santa Claus is just around the corner no matter what street you turn on to.

It's hard to imagine the holiday season without snow, but it seems to be happening with alarming frequency. Remember some of the wonderful times we had as children when all we had to worry about was which hill to sled ride down when we were out of school?

The hundreds of thousands of lights strung each year through the trees along Michigan Avenue represent a tradition that I hope stays with us for all time. There's something special about lighting up the world around us when the sun refuses to shine for more than a few hours each day, if at all. It's a warm and cheery feeling.

Snowfall in Chicago means home during the holiday season. I'm sure a lot of folks who moved to avoid the snow must miss it during these days no matter how much they hated shoveling all this goodness from their walks and driveways. I hope this brings a smile to your face.
