In addition to our reputation as a solid, Midwestern working city, Chicago seems to be made for artists. From the graceful curve of our shoreline, to the magnificent towers of our skyline, Chicago presents an astounding variety of angles, planes and textures for the artist to capture.

We are more than a city of vistas and stunning architecture, however. Chicago teems with life. From our neighborhoods arise a richness of language, custom, and color that beg to be captured on canvas, film, or in words. Here is life both civilized and unrefined. It engages the imagination. Whether it seeks to be caught as is, in a moment of rest or action, or offers the raw material for creativity, this city fires the urge in artists of all types.

Needless to say, I am proud of Chicago. I have shared my enthusiasm for it with guests ranging from ordinary citizens to heads of state. Many of these have received the first volume of Brad Bennett's work, Chicago, as a memento of their visit.

In Chicago, Too, Brad has again caught the sprit of our city and delivered it to us. From the lakefront to the neighborhoods, here is the "City of Big Shoulders," and the "City That Works."
